MyOptique Group [we operate online retail brands Glasses Direct & Sunglasses Shop] are looking for an experienced Planning Manager to drive our e-commerce business across all channels. Our ideal candidate will be an analytical Planning/Merchandising specialist who has a track record of balancing strategic leadership with tactical management within the merchandising discipline.

As Planning Manager you will take responsibility for maximising profit whilst minimising markdowns, developing and delivering the product strategy and using key metrics to maximise business opportunities.

This role reports directly to the Product and Planning Manager and will play a key part in the growth of our business over the next 12 months. By joining the MyOptique team you will also be supporting our mission to improve lives by improving sight – through making eyewear more accessible online.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting the needs of the team and business from a reporting and process perspective, ensuring that opportunities are identified and actioned in alignment with MyOptique strategy
  • Maximising profit and minimising markdown through sales planning, range building, forecasting, reviewing and balancing stock and supporting strategic promotions
  • Executing the product strategy, managing option counts, ensuring appropriate seasonal rates of refresh and product life cycle, planning product exit strategies
  • Managing and maintaining Open-to-Buys and re-projecting the balance of the season after actualising each month for all product categories
  • Analysing sales by classification (style, colour and size) and recommending percentage breakouts before each season to achieve increased sales and sell through %, making appropriate recommendations
  • Developing monthly sales plans for key accounts as well as through projects
  • Working with CRM and the Digital Marketing teams to analyse business by site in order to maximize sales and stock opportunities. Monitoring the flow of initial assortments as well as reorders by classification and by style
  • Analysing weekly Trading and KPI reports recapping sales, inventory and margin vs. plan and projection by classification, style and channel
  • Building and developing a highly motivated and results driven team
  • Managing terminal stock to ensure exit of product is completed with maximised sales and margin and in line with defined principles and robust exit strategies

Managing the Assistant Planner who will be:

  • Managing the inventory for replenishment for all retail partners and channels, maximizing sales opportunities and minimising markdowns
  • Producing ad hoc reports using both financial data and unit selling data
  • Analysing key item rankings by classification, style, colour and size
  • Creating best seller reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Working with the Marketing Team to ensure that promotions and marketing messages are managed effectively, through building financial plans and opening stock assortments
  • Working in collaboration with the supply chain team to ensure best in class availability for customers across all channels


  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience as a stand-alone Merchandiser
  • Must have some Head Office retail merchandise experience
  • Must have done forecasting, range building and assortment analysis
  • Online experience preferred but not essential

About You – You Will:

  • Love crunching numbers and working with excel spreadsheets
  • Have advanced excel skills, and even better if you also have experience working with Salesforce or a similar platform
  • Be self-motivated and be able to work independently at times
  • Be able to confidently communicate with colleagues and management of all levels and when necessary present to them
  • Enjoy process but able to be flexible if necessary
  • Thrive as part of a growing business where sometimes you need to “make do” or improvise
  • Be able to work outside normal working hours on occasion, including attending supplier appointments and buying meetings both in the UK and abroad
  • Keep a calm head under pressure
  • Be able to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal colleagues and external suppliers
